What does surgery cost in Saudi Arabia?
The question every patient asks and almost no surgeon answers in public. Here it is answered the way we answer it in clinic: an honest indicative range for each operation in the Eastern Province's private hospitals (2026), what the figure includes, what moves it — and a written quotation, before any operation, for the number that actually applies to you.

What the range usually includes
The surgeon's and anaesthetist's fees, theatre and the planned stay, standard medicines, dressings and routine tests, and the first follow-up. It does not include intensive care, extra nights, or treatment of unrelated conditions — anything of that kind that becomes necessary is discussed with you as it arises, never discovered afterwards.
Insurance or self-pay?
Most Saudi insurers cover medically necessary surgery — gallstones with symptoms, hernia, appendicitis — after approval, with your co-payment set by your policy. Cosmetic and some bariatric indications are commonly excluded or need special approval. Send us your policy on WhatsApp before you book and we will tell you honestly what can be arranged. Self-pay patients receive the same written quotation; day-case timing, when safe, sits at the lower end of every range here.
Ask any hospital these five questions
- Is this figure the total, including surgeon, anaesthetist, and stay?
- What, exactly, could make it higher — and will you tell me before it does?
- Is my operation planned as day-case, and what decides that?
- What follow-up is included, and for how long?
- Can I have the quotation in writing before I decide?
